Snapshot of Spirit Lake And Mt St Helens

Mt St Helens and Spirit Lake, Seattle, Washington
I was standing on the ledge of the Mt. St. Helens NSGS Observatory just outside of Seattle, Washington.  We had just arrived and my two brothers and I ran out of the van and up to the rail then my mom and dad got out and came up to join us.  My godfather and godmother were with us.  They live in Anacortes, Washington it is a small island town about thirty minutes form Seattle.  There are many people who visit Mt. St. Helens every year.  Some geologists and others tourists.  Though on the day we went to see this natural wonder the touring walk ways were as empty as the streets on the coldest winter days.

Mt. St. Helens and Spirit Lake from a distant view.
This was one of the most spectacular days of my life. I was always interested in volcanoes growing up and I finally got to see one from about a mile away.  On the same trip, we went on my god father's boat and we saw a second volcao within two days of the trip to Mt. St. Helens.  The new volcano was called Mt. Rainier.
